Types of Motivation:

There are two major types of motivation:
1. Intrinsic and
2. Extrinsic motivation

Intrinsic motivation:

Intrinsic motivation means that the person’s motivational stimuli are coming from within. A person has a desire to perform a specific task because it results according to his or her belief system or fulfills a desire and hence importance is attached to it.
For example, you may be motivated to get promoted because of self-improvement or the joy of learning. Conversely, you can be motivated to succeed because you want to positively affect the lives of those around you.

Extrinsic motivation:

Extrinsic motivation means that the person’s motivational stimuli are coming from outside. In other words, our desires to perform an action are controlled by an external source. Note that even if the stimuli are coming from outside, the result of performing the task will still be beneficial to the person performing it.

External motivation is external in nature. The most famous and most debated inspiration is money. Below are some other examples:

Types of intrinsic motivation:

Competence Motivation: Competence motivation, also known as learning motivation, is similar to achievement wherein people are ultimately motivated by the process rather than reward. It is the drive to be good at something, allowing a person to do high-quality work. People driven by competence seek mastery in the job, take pride in developing and using their problem-solving skills and strive to be creative when faced with obstacles. They learn from their experiences.

Attitude motivation: Attitude is the inspiration for how people think and feel. It is his confidence, his confidence in himself and his attitude towards life. This is how they feel about the future and how they react in the past.

Achievement motivation: It is the drive to pursue and achieve goals. With achievement motivation, a person wants to achieve the objectives and move up the ladder of success. Achievement motivation suggests that people are motivated by a desire to pursue and achieve specific goals. People who are motivated by this types of motivation are motivated by the achievement of a task or goal, and not necessarily associated with rewards. For example, an entrepreneur can build a business for the pleasure of creating a world-class organization, and not necessarily because there is money involved.

Physiological motivation: All humans are motivated by basic needs such as food and shelter, as well as high-status psychological needs and self-fulfillment. These needs are comfortable for all of us and we are motivated to achieve them. For example, it sometimes happens when you love someone. Your actions are driven by deep psychological feelings that are practical and cannot be ignored, no matter how much we try. It represents physiological motivational factors that are intrinsic as well as beyond our control.

Types of External Motivation:

Incentive Motivation: Incentive motivation or reward-based motivation is a type of motivation used when you or others know that they will be the reward once a certain goal is achieved. Because there will be something to look forward to at the end of a task, people often become more determined to look at the task so that they can achieve what they have been promised. The better the reward, the stronger the motivation!

Fear-based motivation: The word “fear” carries an overwhelming negative connotation but when it comes to motivation, it is not necessary. Anyone who is big on goal-setting and accomplishment knows that accountability plays a big role in following through on goals. When you become accountable to someone you care about or the general public, you create an inspiration for yourself that lies in fear of failure. This fear helps you to advance your vision so that you do not fail in front of people who know about your goal.
Fear-based motivation is extremely powerful as long as fear is strong enough to stop you from leaving.

Power-based motivation: Those who find happiness in becoming more powerful or making massive changes will certainly be fueled by power-based motivation. Power-based motivation is a types of motivation that activates others to gain more control, usually through employment or the use of positions in organizations. Although this may sound like a bad thing, power-based motivation is great for those who want to change the world around them based on their personal vision.
If you want to make a change, then power-based motivation can be just the way to go!

Affiliation motivation: People often say that this is not what we do but we know that determines our success. For those motivated by affiliation motivation, this is most certainly true. Who use affiliation motivation as a driving force to accomplish their goals when they associate others with positions of high power with them. They are also thrilled when people praise the work that they do with their achievements.
Affiliation motivation is a great force to help you achieve your social goals and move forward in the world.
